Week 7 of Pumpkin Island Ferry construction

This 11.80 meter aluminum ferry which is being built to Australian government survey NSCV 1D now has the hulls fully plated and 60% of the hull internal welding finished. The first survey inspection was passed two weeks ago and construction is on schedule.aluminum surveyed ferry

The catamaran kit parts are infused with a modified vinylester-epoxy type resin which has exceptional air bubble exclusion properties, fluidity and an acceptable gel time.

Ferry for Pumpkin Island, Queensland – Week 4

Frame set-up was completed early in Week 3 and we now have all the tunnel and inner side plate fitted and tacked. Bottom plate outside up to the chine has also been fitted and tacked. We now await the first visit from the Australian surveyor and. assuming all is ok, will start fully welding the hulls inside and the main deck.

New Construction – Ferry for Pumpkin Island, Australia

Last week we started construction of an 11.80M ferry to be shipped to Yeppoon in Queensland, Australia. This vessel will be powered by twin Yamaha 300HP outboards and is being built to survey. A special feature will be the forward boarding ramp and the boat will have passenger access to and seating on the upper deck.

Ferry Cat Construction

We have been delayed a few weeks with construction of the Ferry version due to a shortage of materials, however, we have now received aluminum stock from Singapore and work is progressing again on this boat.

The Dive and Excursion versions are ready for electrical and mechanical fit-out.

Aluminum Catamarans Progress Week 8

Two of the catamarans are now ready for fit-out with the third vessel currently being plated. The Dive and Excursion Cats are completely welded inside with a few small sections of the exterior to be completed next week. These two boats will now have electrical and systems installation started and we will fit a set of engines to the Dive Cat for in-water testing.

We’re now fabricating the cabin for the Dive Cat and plating the hull of the Excursion Cat. There have been some problems to work through but progress is still good.

Aluminum catamarans progress Week 4

The first catamaran is now well fabricated and full welding of plate interior has started. We leave the side plates off until the keel, bottom plates and chine have been fully welded inside. Boats #2 and #3 are currently having frames set up with fabrication planned to start next week.
